It’s no secret that I LOVE cheese and in case you didn’t know, April is National Grilled Cheese
Month! Grilled cheese is an all-time favorite comfort food, but there are so many ways you can amp up the flavor and nutrition. Try using a variety of different cheeses and adding fruits and/or veggies. It’s about eating cheese AND produce together!
Not only does cheese provide you with the flavor your body craves, but one serving of cheese contains many of the essential nutrients your body needs. Cheese is a good source of calcium and phosphorus, essential nutrients that are important for bone health. Cheese also contains high-quality protein, vitamin B12, vitamin A, and niacin.
There are so many ways to get creative with different cheeses and nutrient-rich, delicious toppings. So next time you’re craving a grilled cheese, grab two slices of bread and try out these twists kids and adults are sure to love!
- “That’s my Jam” Grilled Cheese is the ultimate way to celebrate at breakfast. Start by spreading your favorite fresh fruit jam on top of whole-grain sourdough bread, then load it up with scrambled egg and spinach, and top with Cheddar cheese. Finally, grill it to perfection!
- Looking for a mouth-watering snack? Celebrate with a Fig and Balsamic Glaze Grilled Cheese! Stuff two pieces of whole grain seed bread with provolone or Swiss cheese then add sliced figs, arugula, and drizzle with balsamic glaze.
